Abstract: Studies have been made on the effect of the nature of the carrier (Al2O3, TiO2, SiO2) on the interaction with P-Mo-V heteropolycomplexes (HPC) during impregnation and the activity of the catalyst Pd(OAc)2 + HPC/carrier in the low temperature oxidation of CO by oxygen in the presence of a high moisture content. It has been shown that during impregnation of the carrier one portion of the HPC is irreversibly adsorbed on the surface by aluminum and titanium oxides and another portion remains free in the pores. By means of P-31 and V-51 NMR it has been shown that depending on the moisture content of the reaction mixture the free HPC undergo a reversible transition from the solid state into solution. It has been established that the composition of HPC in the solution formed in the catalyst pores is identical to the composition of the initial impregnating HPC solution; the catalyst activities are determined by the amount of the free HPC and depend on the pH of the HPC solution.
