Abstract: The defectiveness of spherical granules of aluminum oxide ("pure" and modified with Mg ions) was investigated by x-ray spectral microanalysis. It was found that defectiveness of the granules decreased on incorporation of magnesium, increasing the mechanical strength. At 820 K, the strength of the granules increased by 1.5-2 times in comparison to unmodified Al2O3.
