Abstract: The Mo/Al2O3 catalysts for propene metathesis were prepared both via anchoring Mo complexes of various nuclearities and by conventional method of impregnation. The catalysts from metal complexes were found to be active in metathesis at ambient temperature after reduction with H2 or CO at 400–500°C. The average oxidation state of Mo in the activated catalysts was determined with regard to oxygen consumption needed for oxidation of the reduced Mo species to Mo6+.
