Abstract: An experimental dependence was derived between the porosity of a stationary granular bed and the height of fall of the particles on its surface during loading. The hydraulic resistance of packed beds of known porosity was determined. The scatter of the filtration rates of an isothermal flow due to porosity fluctuations arising during loading was evaluated.
