Abstract: The yield of 1,3-butadiene in the oxidative dehydrogenation of n-butenes can be increased by catalysts which (1) possess isomerizing activity so that the 2-butenes are converted to the more reactive 1-butene and (2) reduce the subsequent oxidation of 1,3-butadiene. One reason for the lower selectivity accompanying increased butene conversion may be the further oxidation of the product
