Abstract: The steady-state kinetic characteristics (the effect of partial pressures of reagents and of overall pressure on steady-state rates) of simple catalytic mechanisms (collision and adsorption) are analyzed. An anal. equation is derived for the steady-state rate for an irreversible stage. The collisional mechanism is described by monotonous dependence of reaction rate on partial pressure of reagents whereas the adsorption mechanism allows the possibility of a few stationary values of rates with jumps" and explosions occurring on a change of parameters.
