Abstract: Formation of H bonds during base interactions with zeolite HNaY and aerosil surfaces was studied by IR spectroscopy. The H bond strength is detected by base strength and proton donor capacity of surface OH groups. A method is described for determining the strength of proton donor acid centers using IR spectra of H bonded complexes.
