Abstract: A circulating-flow method has been used to study the kinetics of methanol oxidation by air on iron-molybdenum catalysts containing the elements Mo and Fe in atomic ratio of 1. 7 to 1. 8. The alcohol reaction follows the scheme methyl alcohol to formaldehyde and formaldehyde to carbon monoxide. Equations for the rates of these reactions have been obtained applying in the kinetic region at temperatures in the 200 to 300 C interval and with an excess oxygen.
