Abstract:
Adsorption heat transformers (AHTs) are attracting an increasing attention due to their ability to utilize waste and renewable heat. This paper addresses the dynamic study of methanol ad/desorption in flat beds of loose grains of activated carbon ACM-35.4. The process is initiated by jump/drop of the methanol pressure at T = 2oC which imitates typical conditions of a novel cycle “Heat from Cold” recently suggested for upgrading the ambient heat. The effects of the grain size and the bed thickness are studied. The feasibility of the adsorbent regeneration by dropping the methanol pressure was demonstrated.
