Abstract: In our presentation we report that nitrous oxide adsorption can be reliably used for measuring the specific surface area of the metallic cobalt or metallic nickel active component. The surface oxygen adsorption and oxygen diffusion processes can be discriminated and the impact of bulk oxidation can be subtracted from the total amount of the sorbed oxygen. That information can be further used for estimating the amount of metallic atoms at the surface of the active component and for calculating TOF of the catalytic reaction.
