Abstract: The methodology of the quantification of photoinduced bending of crystals is described and illustrated by the case study of [Co(NH3)(5)NO2]Cl(NO3) crystal bending caused by the reversible photochemical isomerization. The measurement technique is combined with the quantitative model to give an effective method for assessing of the key material properties defining the characteristics of the potential light-driven actuators.
