Abstract: Two series of Ag/CeO2 and Ag/CeO2/SiO2were prepared. The features of Ag-CeO2 interaction were studied by XRD, TEM HR, TPR-H2. It was shown that the use of co-precipitation technique and impregnation of prereduced ceria led to a stronger interaction between silver with ceria particles for Ag/CeO2 and AgCeO2/SiO2, respectively. The epitaxy of silver particles on the CeO2 surface was observed for Ag/CeO2 catalysis, prepared by co-precipitation techniques. This catalyst had the highest activity in soot oxidation. The Ag/CeO2 catalyst, prepared by impregnation techniques, was more active in CO oxidation in comparison with Ag/CeO2 (co-precipitation) catalyst. The presence of Ag-SiO2 interface in Ag/CeO2/SiO2 catalysts leads to low-temperature (0-50 oC) activity in CO oxidation. Ag/CeO2/SiO2 catalysts with weak AgCeO2 interfacial interactions had the highest activity in low-temperature CO oxidation. Thus, a strong metal-support interaction in Ag/CeO2 and Ag/CeO2/SiO2 catalysts led to increased activity in soot oxidation and decreased activity in CO oxidation.
