Abstract:
Catalysts based on Pd-Bi nanoparticles prove to be highly active in glucose oxidation process for gluconic acid obtaining. These catalysts are thoroughly described in literature, however, little attention is given to the effects of the reaction parameters on the properties of such catalysts. Moreover, there is insufficient data on kinetic aspect of this reaction in the presence of Pd-Bi system. In this work, the effect of the reaction parameters - temperature and pH level - on the activity and selectivity of the Pd3:Bi1/Al2O3 catalyst in glucose oxidation process was studied. Also, we investigated the rate of external diffusion to the catalyst grain depending on the catalyst loading, performed the activation energy determination, and conducted the physical-chemical investigation of the catalytic samples obtained. It has been found that the temperature of 60 ºC and pH of 9 are the optimal conditions for catalyst use. Calculated activation energy is 67.7 kJ/mol.
