Abstract: In the work has been shown that on modifying of diatomite proceeds in specific adsorption of V2O5 on the base centers of impurity oxides of Al, Ti, and Fe. As a result, the diatomite surface is positively charged: a) according to IR spectroscopy, the basic sites disappear, and the strength of the acid sites increases; b) the point of zero charge decreases, 7.85 →3.97. The activity of the catalyst on the modified diatomite by 15% exceeds the activity of the catalyst on the initial diatomite. Thus, it can be assumed that modification with vanadium contributes to the uniform distribution of the melt of the active component on the support and leads to a decrease in the ignition temperature of the catalyst.
