Abstract: A new double complex salt [Ir(NH3)6][Fe(CN)6] is synthesized and structurally characterized. The crystal structures of [Ir(NH3)6]Cl3 and [Ir(NH3)6]Br3 are determined. The process of thermal decomposition of [Ir(NH3)6][Fe(CN)6] in different atmospheres is studied. It is shown that the decomposition products in reducing (He/H2) and inert (Ar) atmospheres is a two-phase mixture of iridium–iron solid solutions with face-centered cubic and hexagonal close-packed crystal lattices. In the oxidizing atmosphere (Ar/O2), mainly IrO2 and Fe2O3 oxides are formed.
