Abstract:
Copper (CuZ+), nickel, and cobalt thiopicolinanilidates, with the general formula M(TPA)2, were synthesized. It was found that Cu(TPA)z has one crystallographic modification (l), Ni(TPA)2 has two (II and II-A), and Co(TPA) 2 is x-ray amorphous. Single crystals of I and II were grown and studied by x-ray goniometric methods. The crystals belong to the monoclinic crystal system. The unit cell parameters are as follows: a = 5.84 .A, b = 22.5 A, c = 8,28 A, and β = 117o for
Cu(TPA)2, and a= 5.48 A, b=17.44 A, c= 10.79 A, and β = 102 o for Ni(TPA)2, Z = 2, space group C2h(5) = P21/c. The structure of the chelate grouping Cu(2S, 2N) was determined, along with the positions of the molecules in the unit cell.
