Abstract: Portionwise addition of hydrogen peroxide markedly augments enantioselectivity of sulfide to sulfoxide oxidation catalyzed by vanadium (IV)-Shiff base complexes, and this effect cannot be explained by temperature fluctuations. 51V NMR spectra of reaction mixture detect two chiral peroxo complexes and one achiral diperoxo compound.
