Abstract: The pyrolysis of rapidly growing grass biomass in an inert atmosphere was studied by thermogravimetric analysis using sorghum as an example. Pyrolysis was performed under isothermal conditions at temperatures from 250 to 400°C. To describe the reaction kinetics, a single-component model including six first-order reactions was proposed. A special feature of this model is the occurrence of a step of the formation of an intermediate carbonaceous substance from the volatile products of biomass decomposition.
