Abstract: Synthesis of carbon nanomaterials was performed through the decomposition of hydrocarbon raw material of different compositions (natural gas, propane - butane mixture) at 700 °C using the nickel catalyst 20 % Ni/SBA–15. Mesoporous silicate material SBA–15 with fixed pore diameter was used as a support for nickel catalysts. It was shown that preliminary functionalization of the support with amino groups provides higher dispersity of nickel particles due to their stabilization inside the channels of the mesoporous silicate matrix. The maximal yield of carbon nanomaterials (27 g/gNi) was achieved in the case when С3–С4 mixture was used. The product is composed of hollow carbon nanofibres 10–50 nm in diameter. It was established by means of HRTEM that the formation of carbon filaments occurs due to active centres fixed on the outer surface of the support. Metal particles present in the pores of the SBA–15 matrix do not take part in the process. The effect of carbon methanation process on the yield of carbon nanomaterials and its morphological features were studied.
