Catalysts contg. Mo oxide and V oxide supported on Aerosil for oxidn. of acrolein have improved stability, activity, and selectivity by adding 1 or 2 oxides, from a group consisting of Na2O, Ce oxide, TiO2, ZrO2, Nb oxide, Ta oxide, and W oxide, to the catalyst. Thus, an exemplary catalyst contains Mo oxide 25.5-81.6, V oxide 1.8-10.5, 1 or 2 oxides selected from the above-specified group 0.3-20.7 %, and the balance being support.
