The title catalysts, which have increased activity and afford polyethylene (I) [9002-88-4] with decreased ash content, were prepd. by treating a porous powd. I support (particle size ≤1 mm; vol. of pores 0.4 cm3/g; and sp. surface of particles ≥2 m2/g) at <0° with a liq. complex consisting of a product from the reaction of TiCl4 with organoaluminum compds. at <0°, with subsequent removal of gaseous reaction products from the support and activation of the catalyst by heat treatment at 100-120°.
