Numerous studies have concentrated on the mechanism of the reaction of C-S- hydrogenolysis with regard to the importance of HDS catalysts. These mechanisms are based on two theses. In the article, the mechanism of thiophene hydrogenolysis on well-characterized highly active catalysts prepared via metal complex precursors is investigated. HDS catalysts are known to exhibit the MoS2 single slab with Co (Ni) structure. Using the electroneutrality principle, the MoS2 single slab is analyzed and formulated. Taking into account the charges and electrons that can be compensated, an electroneutral macromolecule and the macromolecule as a whole being electroneutral are examined. In connection, adsorption heats of H2S molecules on SBMS are calculated. The possible action to be taken in order to complete the catalytic cycle is introduced.
