Chemosorption of amines has been studied many times to obtain information on the acidic properties of the surface of oxide catalysts. To investigate the chemical nature of the surface centers of alumina, authors studied the infrared spectra of adsorbed deuterated ammonia. Various adsorbed forms of ammonia, produced by interaction with the produced by interaction with the protonic and aprotonic centers of the surface are formed on the catalyst surface. Sodium ions are capable of blocking only certain hydroxyl groups of the surface. Protonic centers were not detected on the surface of this catalyst.
