Abstract: The complexing of palladium acetate with di-imine ligands results in a promotion effect on the vinyl exchange processes and ensures excellent selectivity and stability of the catalyst under reaction conditions. Vinylation of both saturated and unsaturated car☐ylic acids by vinyl acetate proceeds smoothly with such catalysts even at an increased concentration of water in the reaction mixture. Catalytic activity is dependent on the structure of the chelate ligand, with a steric factor playing a predominant role. A kinetic study has been performed and a reaction mechanism is proposed.
