Abstract: Parahydrogen-induced polarization technique (PHIP) was successfully utilized for the mechanistic investigation of the hydrogen addition selectivity over different supported metal catalysts. New insights into the semihydrogenation of 1-butyne and 2-butyne on silica-supported Cu nanoparticles were obtained. Moreover, supported palladium catalysts were also investigated in the terms of catalyst active site structure influence on the pairwise hydrogen addition selectivity and was found that the differences in the mechanism of pairwise hydrogen addition to double and triple bonds over these palladium catalysts are existed.
