Abstract:
The influence of the nature and initial ratio of components on phase composition, structure, and stability of high-temperature supports based on MgO-Al2O3-MO2 (M = Si,Zr) was studied at 1000-1550°. The Mg-Al-Si oxide samples contain more phases than do the Mg-Al-Zr oxide samples. The Mg-Al-Zr oxide supports prepared from hydrargillite exhibit higher thermal stability than the Mg-Al-Si oxide samples prepared at >1250° from melts derived from a mixture of SiO2 and MgSiO3. Mechanical stability decreases as sample overall pore volume increases.
