Abstract:
Using the matrix isolation ESR technique the kinetic dependences of generation of RO2° radicals formed during n-alcohol and oxygen interaction over IV period transition metal oxides (TiO2, V2O5, Cr2O3, MnO2, Fe2O3, Co3O4, NiO, CuO, ZnO) were studied at low reagent pressures (Ptotal < 14 Pa) over the temperature range of 653 to 823 K. On the example of the oxidation reaction over CuCr2O4/γ–Al2O3 at atmospheric pressure the dependences of radical formation under conditions when secondary radical reactions may develop were investigated. Radical formation on the surfaces is believed to proceed via the common mechanism for all catalysts of the examined series, the chemisorbed surface oxygen species being involved in radical formation.
